Trey Dishon

From small town football in Horton, Kansas to playing on the highest level of college football in Division I and playing in the Big 12 and starting for the Kansas State Wildcats on the defensive line.

A huge opportunity came to former Horton Charger, Trey Dishon in 2015 and he took it and has run with it putting in the hard work to take advantage of a great opportunity. Late in the recruiting season Kansas State came knocking on the door of Dishon and he joined the Wildcat family after meeting Coach Bill Synder.

After spending the 2015 season as a red-shirt on the scout team putting in the hard work, learning the system and techniques and working in the weight room, Dishon made the jump this year to a starting role on the defensive line. The former Horton Charger has started six of the team’s seven games this season, missing one contest with a knee injury and has recorded seven tackles and a pass defense on the year. Dishon has been a strong piece to a defense that ranks as one of the best in the Big 12 as they are the best run defense (94.9 ypg) in the conference, while rankings second in total defense (343.6 ypg), third in scoring defense (21 ppg), second in opponents first downs and third in red zone defense in the conference. The Wildcat defense has been so stout that they rank third nationally with only 94.9 yards per game given up, while Kansas State is also ranked 23rd in the nation in total defense and 26th in scoring defense.

The former Horton Charger was a hard worker in high school and has kept that work ethic now at Kansas State in earning his opportunities. In his final year with Horton he helped the team to a 7-2 record and 3A playoff appearance, while earning All-Kansas 3A selection and All-Northeast Kansas League honors at three positions. Dishon also was competed in basketball, track and field and powerlifting taking second in the discus and fifth in the shot put his senior year at State track in 3A, while winning the 3A 242lb powerlifting championship.

Opportunities come and go and it’s what you do with them that will define how things work out for you and in Dishon’s case he’s seized his opportunity with Kansas State Wildcat football and looks to continue to blossom as a football player and become even more of an impact on the field for the Wildcats who are 4-3 on the season and looking to string more wins together this year.
