The opportunity to compete in something you enjoy is something many strive to have the chance to do and former Jeff West Tiger, Amber Graber is finding success competing at the college level at Colby Community College on the Equestrian team.
Graber as a freshman has put forth a strong showing this year in competition for Colby CC as she competed in all five competitions before the holiday break and recorded a Top five finish in every competition she participated in.
The former Jeff West Tiger opened up her collegiate career competing in the novice horsemanship competition at the Colby Western Show and earned a first place and fifth place in the two days of competition. The horsemanship competition judges the correctness of the rider's seat, hands and feet, the finesse in riding, and the strength of his or her lines and angles as the competitor rides a series of maneuvers in a 30- to 60-second pattern devised by the judge and posted the day of the event.
Amber competed in the novice horsemanship competition again at two more competitions and earned three more first place finishes and a third place showing at Lincoln, NE and Cheyanne, WY. At Lincoln Graber sweep the competition with two first place finishes in novice horsemanship over the two-day competition.
She also competed in the advanced walk-trot-canter equitation competition at two shows at Longmont, CO and Colorado Springs earning a third and three fourth place finishes in the four times competing in the competition.
Graber has also found success in the classroom in her first semester of college being named to the President's Honor roll after achieving a 4.0 GPA.
The season picks back up for Graber and the Colby CC Equestrian team again when they get back to action on February 10th.
