Horton was hosting Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Jackson Heights on Tuesday night in a Northeast Kansas League Triangular.

The Chargers won both of their matches while Jackson Heights head coach Denise Visocsky picked up her 400th career win.

The Chargers dispatched the Ravens in the first match of the night winning 25-14, 25-14. Horton scored nine straight and 16 of the last 18 points in set one while scoring six straight and 15 of the last 19 points to end set two.

The Cobras got their head coach that milestone win in the second match of the night as they would defeat the Ravens in three sets 25-13, 22-25, 27-25. The Ravens led the final set 25-24 but Jackson Heights would rattle off three straight to get the win.

Sole possession of first place in the Northeast Kansas League was on the line in the final match of the night with Horton and Jackson Heights. The Chargers dominated the first set winning 25-12 while the Cobras forced a third set with a dominant 25-13 set two win.

Jackson Heights jumped out to the early 8-5 set three lead before Horton rallied back to take a 10-8 lead to force a timeout. After that timeout, Chargers outscored the Cobras 15-9 the rest of the way to take the victory.

Horton (17-9, 9-0) now hold sole possession of first place in the NEKL with a few weeks left in the regular season as they look for their first league championship since 1989.

Jackson Heights (13-6, 8-1) suffers their first league loss and are now 0-2 against Horton this season as they played at the Hiawatha tournament last weekend.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy (14-5, 4-4) were in a tie for third place in the league standings entering the night but dropped a couple of spots in the standings.

Jackson Heights and Horton will be at Jefferson County North next week for another league triangular so they will have another opportunity to face each other before the regular season is complete.
