The Maur Hill-Mount Academy Ravens baseball team hit the diamond last week for a pair of double headers and came out of the action 4-0 sweeping McLouth and Doniphan West to move to 7-7 overall on the season.

Multiple guys made an impact in the four games but junior Jake Schmidt stood out drastically upping his average on the year from .200 to .312 but going 8-13 in the four games. With his 8-13 performance at the plate Schmidt tallied eight runs scored, nine RBI’s, two doubles, three homeruns and a walk.

The week started with the series sweep of McLouth as the junior aide the Ravens cause in the 12-1 and 10-2 wins over the Bulldogs. In the 12-1 win Schmidt had the hot bat going 2-4 with a pair of homeruns, two runs scored and three RBI’s, while going 1-3 with a double, walk, two runs scored and an RBI in the 10-2 win.

Schmidt’s hot streak at the plate continued against Doniphan West as he went 2-3 with a homerun, walk, three runs scored and an RBI in the 8-7 win and added to that with a 3-3 showing in the 12-3 win tallying four RBI’s and a runs scored with a double.

The Ravens continued their momentum on the diamond with a sweep of Atchison on Monday winning 7-0 and 17-5, to improve to 9-7 on the season and Maur Hill will look to keep that mojo going down the final stretch of the regular season with Schmidt being an integral part to the Ravens success.
