Running is the name of the game but it takes discipline to know how to pace yourself and endurance to finish the race. Hiawatha Red Hawk senior, Jordan Puvogel has been displaying those traits her entire cross country career and the season opening competition was no different for the Red Hawk senior as she raced her way to another gold medal by winning the Jeff West Invitational by posting a time of 17:16.17.
Puvogel won the girl’s competition by 6.6 seconds and helped lead Hiawatha to a second place team performance in their first meet of the season.
Jordan has been dominating the cross country scene her entire high school athletic career with multiple top flight performances, including winning the 3A State title two years ago as a sophomore and finishing second in 3A last year.
Off to a fast start for her senior year, Puvogel has her sights set on a return to the top in Class 3A individually, but along with her teammates the Red Hawks as a team have their sights set on a top flight team performance at State and behind the first competition of the year Puvogel and company look to build momentum for the year.
