The Holton Wildcats are a team accustomed to making runs in the playoffs and this year the Wildcats notched another District and League title under their belt on their way to the playoffs again. After an opening round win over Osawatomie, 54-8; Holton saw their season come to an unfortunate end in the Sectional round of the 4A-DII playoffs falling 22-21 to Columbus.
Senior runningback, Luis Butto helped the Wildcats rush for 361 yards as a team in the loss accounting for 167 yards on 14 carries, including a 65-yard touchdown run. On the season Butto put up 589 yards on 61 carries in just seven games, rushing for 9.7 yards per carry with 10 touchdowns. He also made an impact on defense finishing with over 20 tackles on the season.
Butto helped the Wildcats have one the most potent rushing attacks in the State again as Holton ran for 378.6 yards per game as a team, amassing 4,165 rushing yards as a team.
Wildcat pride continued this season with another strong season on the gridiron that perhaps might have ended early in the eyes of some but still was a strong season as the Wildcats in the last 10 years have not lost more than three games in a single season and finished 9-2 this year.
