The lady Tigers of ACCHS already have totaled 62.5% of their win total from last year as they sit at 5-2 on the season this year after winning just eight games last year. Coming out of the holiday break looking to keep their mojo rolling from a win over Jeff West before the break, the Tigers took on Atchison and Hiawatha.
With senior, Lillie Holtgrave leading the charge ACCHS registered two wins to improve to that 5-2 record as they topped Atchison 53-33 and came from behind to beat Hiawatha 48-44. Lillie put on a scoring show against Atchison as she accounted for 58.5% of the teams points on the night, posting a career high 31 points. The shooters touch for Holtgrave transitioned with her to the next game, too as she went for 22 points against Hiawatha and the Tigers used a 15-2 fourth quarter to comeback and earn the win.
On the season, Holtgrave has helped pave the way with her leadership and play on the court as she is averaging 16.4 ppg and has scored double figures in six of the teams’ seven games. On top of the points, Lillie fills the stat sheet in many other ways to contribute to the Tigers success, as she averages 5 spg, 4 apg and 4 rpg this season.
The Tigers are off to a strong start this season under new coach, Mike Eckert and they look to build upon their success to continue to challenge teams in the Big Seven night and night out and Holtgrave looks to help lead the charge.
