Bump, set, spike that happened quite a bit for the Valley Falls Dragons volleyball last week and worked out quite as the Dragons went 7-0 in action and improved to 12-2 on the season.
The week started off with a Tuesday showdown in Northeast Kansas League play with Jackson Heights and Pleasant Ridge as the Dragons hosted the action and notched a pair of straight set wins. Valley Falls down Pleasant Ridge 25-3, 25-13 while topping Jackson Heights 25-15, 25-15.
The ladies didn’t stop with that as they took to the court in tournament action for the second time this season on Saturday and competed in the Lyndon Invitational and posted a 5-0 mark to claim the tourney title. Dragons started the day in pool play picking up straight set wins over Northern Heights (25-13, 25-9) and Burlingame (25-10, 25-18), while beating the third ranked 2A team in Wabaunsee in three sets in pool play (25-13, 23-25, 25-19). Moving into the Semifinals, Valley Falls discarded Lebo in straight sets 25-7, 25-15 to punch their ticket to the Championship match where they would take on Wabaunsee yet again. This time around the Dragons took down Wabaunsee in straight sets 25-17, 25-20 and laid claim to the Lyndon Invitational title.
During the 7-0 week the Dragons only gave up more than 15 points in a set three times and moved into the Kansas Volleyball Association Class 2A rankings last week also checking in at #9 in the Top 10 poll. The Dragons are now 12-2 overall this season and 4-0 in NEKL play and on top of winning the Lyndon Invitational, also took third at the Jeff West Invitational early this season.
