The Jeff West Tigers sit at 4-5 on the season after a loss Tuesday in the Tonganoxie Invitational but have been strong and competitive all year falling in four of their five losses by 10 points or less.
While the Tigers have multiple playmakers senior, Nick Malloy has been at the front of the pack leading the charge for Jeff West. Last week in a 59-39 win over Hiawatha Malloy once again drained a multitude of shots hitting 7-11 from three-point range and going 10-14 from the floor for a season best 32 points. The game marked his second contest this season in which he’s hit seven three-pointers.
On the year Malloy is averaging 22.8 points per game for the Tigers, along with 2.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.9 steals per game, while shooting 47% from the floor and 40% from three-point range. Malloy is also hitting at a 69% clip from the free throw line for the Tigers.
Jeff West started the Tonganoxie Invitational on Monday falling to Eudora 54-44 in their first game but Malloy netted 16 in the loss. On the season Nick has tallied 20 or more points in seven of the teams nine games.
Malloy looks to continue his strong play this season and the Jeff West Tigers look to continue to be competitive in the Big Seven League as they look to go on a run in the second half of the season.
