After just a two win season last year the Doniphan West Mustangs are galloping out of the gate in the 2017 season with a two wins in the first three games of the season sitting at 2-1.
In week three Doniphan West took down Hiawatha on the road holding off the Red Hawks for a 26-21 win. The aerial attack played a big part for the Mustangs in the victory as quarterback, Levi Watts led the attack going 16-27 for 342 yards with three touchdowns and added a touchdown run.
The fourth year starter in Watts is off to a strong start this season completing 53.1% of his passes going 34-64 for 611 yards with seven touchdowns and has run for 18 yards on six carries with a score. On defense Watts has recorded 16 tackles and also punts for the Mustangs.
Doniphan West opened the football season taking down Washington County and Watts was 14-22 for 218 yards with three touchdowns.
Mustangs keep the season rolling with a date with Centralia in week four before getting into Class 2-1A District play and Watts and company look to continue their strong start to the season to find the win column more.
