Fresh off of football season and a Class 3A State runner-up finish the defending 3A State champions the Marysville Bulldogs hit the basketball court for a pair of games to open the season on back to back nights and opened the season 2-0.
Moving up to Class 4A-DII this year the Bulldogs are ranked #3 in the KBCA polls and showed they had no problem scoring the first night of the season pouring out 82 points in an 82-24 win over Axtell on the road. Senior sharpshooter, Gabe Pieschl speared headed the performance jumping right back into the top scoring role for the Bulldogs has he poured in 31 points in the season opener.
Pieschl added to that start for himself the next night with 22 points as Marysville outdueled Sabetha 59-47 to open the season 2-0 on the hardwood.
All-State and 3A “Player of the Year” last year as a junior helping Marysville to the 3A State title Pieschl looks wrap up his high school basketball career with a strong senior campaign and is off to a fast start as Marysville looks to make noise and challenge for top flight finish in 4A-DII this year.
