Heading into the season the Jeff West girls’ basketball team was on the outside looking in at the Class 3A rankings after going 18-3 last season and falling one win short of reaching the state tournament.

 Since the beginning of the year the Lady Tigers have played their way into the rankings as they are off to a 6-1 start to the year and ranked fifth in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Rankings.

A big key to the success of the Jeff West girls has been the play of senior Aaliyah Negonsott, who poured in 23 points in the Tigers 49-33 win over Hiawatha last Friday night.

Negonsott has filled up the stat sheet all season long, as she is currently averaging 17.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.2 steals per game.

Last season she averaged just over 14 points per game and picked up second team all-state honors from Sports in Kansas while she has been named first team All-Big 7 League the past two seasons.

Negonsott and the Tigers are off to a 6-1 start to the year and will look to continue their success with a tough game Tuesday at home against 3A No. 6 ranked Holton.
