The 2020 high school spring sports season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak and because of that we at the MSC Sports Radio Network have decided to salute area athletes that were expected to be the top returners in their respective sports.
For Maur Hill-Mount Academy with the cancellation of the spring sports season that also means the end to the career of senior Abe Siebenmorgen who was expected to be one of the top baseball players in Northeast Kansas.
Siebenmorgen led the Ravens to a 19-1 record a year ago hitting .390 with 34 RBI and 18 runs scored. His RBI’s led the team by 10 while he was second on the team in hits with 23 which was just one behind the team lead.
On the mound he was one of the best pitchers in the state finishing the season with a 9-0 record along with a 0.62 earned run average.
He allowed just three runs in 33.2 innings and finished with 54 strikeouts compared to just 10 walks which earned him a second team all-state spot at pitcher and a third straight Northeast Kansas League all-league selection.
Siebenmorgen is a three-sport athlete who will now turn his attention to the collegiate level where he is set to play football at Benedictine College.
