The 2020 high school spring sports season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak and because of that we at the MSC Sports Radio Network have decided to salute area athletes that were expected to be the top returners in their respective sports.
For Frankfort senior Branden Bussmann, this golf season was supposed to be a chance to improve on what was a strong junior campaign which saw him finish 10th at the state meet after shooting a 79.
His strong season earned him a first-team all-state selection in Class 1A while he also helped the Cats to a Class 1A State Title.
Bussmann earned a spot at state by carding a 95 at the regional meet which was good enough for a seventh-place finish.
He also earned a second-place finish in Frankfort’s Twin Valley League Championship shooting an 84 which was one stroke behind the winner.
As a sophomore Bussmann reached the state meet and helped the Wildcats to a runner-up finish as a team by taking 23rd individually.
After a strong season on the football field for the Wildcat football team, Bussmann had his senior golf season cut short before it even started but despite that will always be remembered for helping lead Frankfort to a state title.
