Nahcs Wahwassuck

Throughout a high school basketball career, it is impressive enough to say you are your school’s all-time leading scorer, but to be just a junior and have that title takes the feat to another level.

That is exactly what the case is for Royal Valley’s Nahcs Wahwassuck as the junior standout become the school’s all-time leading scorer this past Saturday while leading the Panther boys to a berth in the Class 3A State Tournament.

Wahwassuck has been a scoring machine all season long and that continued last week as he scored 13 points in a 24-point semifinal win over Jeff West before pouring in 17 in the championship in an 8-point win over Marysville.

On the season Wahwassuck is averaging right at 20 points per game which led the Big 7 League this season while he also led the league with nearly three steals and close to five assists a game.

He has gone over the 30-point mark this season which comes after a sophomore campaign that saw him average 16.5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists per game.

Wahwassuck was named first team all-state last season by the Topeka Capitol Journal and Sports in Kansas which is beginning to earn him Division I college interest.

Nahcs will now take center stage and look to lead Royal Valley to the state semifinals with a big matchup with Rock Creek on the road coming up on Tuesday night.
