The Doniphan West girls basketball team has had an outstanding season to this point. They’re 11-4 overall and ranked in the top-10 in 1A-I according to the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.

Kyra Johnson has been a big reason for the Mustangs’ success.

Doniphan West has won three of their last four games with the lone loss to 1A-I #8 Clifton Clyde. In Kyra’s last five games, she’s averaging nearly 15 points and nine rebounds per game while also averaging nearly four assists and three steals per game.

In a 56-50 win last week over 3A #5 ACCHS, Kyra poured in 25 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and three assists. She made six of her eight field goal attempts and connected on 11 of 14 free throws.

Kyra added 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in a 76-33 win over Axtell the following night.

For the season, Kyra is averaging 11.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 3.2 APG and 2.5 SPG while also hitting nearly 43% from behind the arc.
